  • PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
  • DRYWEED 396SL is  a non-selective systemic  herbicide for control of all types of grasses & broad leave weeds in maize (minimum tillage). Weeds such as grasses and broadleaf species pose a significant challenge in maize production, especially under minimum tillage systems.
  • MODE OF ACTION
  • Glyphosate is a systemic, non-selective herbicide in Herbicide Resistance Action Committee HRAC Group 9. Glyphosate acts by inhibiting 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), a key enzyme in the shikimic acid pathway responsible for the synthesis of essential aromatic amino acids. This inhibition disrupts protein synthesis and other vital metabolic processes required for plant growth and survival. Glyphosate is absorbed through foliage and translocated throughout the plant to actively growing tissues, including roots and shoots. Susceptible plants gradually cease growth, develop chlorosis and necrosis, and eventually die.
  • 2,4-D amine is a selective systemic herbicide in Herbicide Resistance Action Committee HRAC Group 4. 2,4-D acts as a synthetic auxin, mimicking the natural plant growth hormone indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). It disrupts normal plant growth and development by causing uncontrolled cell division and elongation, abnormal vascular tissue development, and impaired nutrient transport. The herbicide is absorbed through leaves and roots and translocated throughout the plant to actively growing tissues. Susceptible broadleaf weeds exhibit epinasty, stem twisting, leaf malformation, growth abnormalities, and eventual death due to the disruption of essential physiological processes.
  • Key Benefits:
  1. Systemic movement throughout the plant
  2. Effective on deep-rooted perennials, annual and biannual weeds
  3. Controls grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds
  • Effects Of these weeds on crops:
  1. Compete with crops for nutrients, water, and sunlight
  2. Reduce crop establishment and vigour
  3. Lower yields and profitability
  4. Increase labour and weed control costs
  • Application Guidelines
  1. Apply as a foliar spray on actively growing weeds
  2. Apply once per season
  3. Plant crops 7 days after application
  4. Ensure uniform spray coverage on foliage
  5. Do not spray to runoff
  • Rainfall:
  1. Within 6 hours may reduce effectiveness
  2. Within 1 hour may require reapplication
  • Resistance Management
  1. Avoid repeated use of herbicides with the same mode of action
  2. Rotate with herbicides from different groups
  • Integrate with:
  1. Mechanical weed control
  2. Crop rotation
  3. Good agronomic practices
  • Benefits
  1. Broad-spectrum control of grasses and broadleaf weeds
  2. Systemic action ensures complete kill including roots
  3. Effective on tough and deep-rooted weeds
  4. Suitable for minimum tillage systems
  5. Dual mode of action enhances efficacy
  6. Reduces need for repeated weeding
  7. Improves field preparation and crop establishment
  • Mixing Instructions
  1. Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water
  2. Add the recommended amount of DRYWEED 396SL
  3. Top up with the remaining water
  4. Stir or agitate thoroughly to ensure uniform mixture
  5. Apply immediately after mixing
  • Without effective post-emergence control, weeds can quickly dominate fields and hinder crop performance.
