PARASTAR 200SL

PARASTAR 200SL is developed to manage weeds that commonly affect maize production, especially under minimum tillage systems where weeds are not physically removed before planting. Shrubs, grasses, and broadleaf weeds can quickly establish and become a serious problem during the early stages of crop growth.

These weeds compete directly with maize for essential resources such as nutrients, moisture, and sunlight, which limits proper crop development. They can also interfere with land preparation and make crop establishment more difficult. As weed pressure increases, both yield and crop quality are negatively affected, while labour requirements and overall production costs rise.

Without effective post-emergence control, these weeds can spread rapidly and dominate the field, ultimately suppressing maize growth and reducing overall farm productivity.

Product Overview

PARASTAR 200SL is a non-selective post-emergence herbicide containing Paraquat Dichloride 200 g/L (SL formulation).

It is designed for rapid control of: Shrubs, Broadleaf weeds & Grasses.

The product is particularly suited for minimum tillage systems in maize, providing fast knockdown of emerged weeds.

Mode of Action

Paraquat dichloride is a fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide with no residual soil activity. It acts primarily on the green parts of plants by interfering with the photosystem I during photosynthesis. This disruption leads to the formation of highly reactive oxygen species, which rapidly damage and destroy plant cell membranes. As a result, the affected tissues lose moisture quickly, causing visible scorching, desiccation, and rapid death of exposed plant parts. Since paraquat is not translocated within the plant, its activity is limited to the areas it directly contacts.

4. Allows replanting within 4 hours after application

Application Guidelines

1. Apply when weeds are young and actively growing
2. Target weeds below 15 cm in height for best results
3. Ensure uniform spray coverage on foliage
4. Avoid spray drift to desirable crops
5. Do not spray in windy conditions
6. Replanting can be done 4 hours after application

Integrate with:

Mixing Instructions

1. Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water
2. Add the recommended amount of PARASTAR 200SL
3. Top up with water to the required level
4. Agitate thoroughly to ensure uniform mixing
5. Spray immediately after preparation
