  • Plant-Derived Broad-Spectrum Control of Mites and Soft-Bodied Pests
  • Bio-Mat 13SL is a natural product suitable for IPM and can be used for the control of spider mites, white flies and mealybugs in roses, aphids & white flies on French beans, aphids, Spidermites, Tuta absoluta on tomatoes & papaya mealybugs in pawpaws.
  • MODE OF ACTION
  • Matrine is a naturally occurring alkaloid that acts by both contact and ingestion (stomach action) and has an antifeedant effect. It disrupts the pest’s nervous system, causing cessation of feeding, paralysis and death, and is effective against both soft-bodied insects and spider mites. It has low mammalian toxicity and is well suited to IPM.

  •  Equivalent Field Rate: 1 litre per hectare in 1000 litres of water
  • METHOD OF APPLICATION
  • Half-fill the spray tank with clean water. Add the required amount of Bio-Mat 1.3SL, then top up with the remaining water to the required level and agitate thoroughly to a uniform mixture. Spray immediately after mixing. Apply as a full-cover foliar spray, ensuring thorough coverage of the leaves and all plant parts, including the undersides.
  • APPLICATION GUIDE
  1. Apply at the first signs of pest infestation
  2. Repeat as required, guided by routine scouting
  3. Ensure thorough, even coverage of leaves and all plant parts, including leaf undersides
  4. For Tuta absoluta, target eggs and young larvae before they tunnel into the leaf
  5. Alternate with insecticides/acaricides of a different mode of action to manage resistance
  6. Do not spray when bees are actively foraging — slightly toxic to bees and fish
  • PHI & RE-ENTRY INTERVAL
  • Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): French beans and tomatoes – 1 day (no PHI specified on the label for pawpaw or roses — see note)
  • Re-Entry Interval (REI): 3 hours; re-enter once spray deposits have dried
