BIOKIL WP is a biological insecticide formulated from a strain of Bacillus Thuringiensis var Kurstaki which controls Thrips and Caterpillars in French beans, Giant Looper in Coffee, Fall Army Worm in Baby Corm, Caterpillars (Helicoverpa amigera) in roses, Tuta bsoluta in Tomatoes, False codling moth in avocado and Diamond back moth in broccoli.

Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki (Serotype H-3a, 3b, Strain Z-52) acts by ingestion (stomach action). Susceptible caterpillars feed on treated foliage and swallow the bacterial spores and their crystalline Cry (δ-endotoxin) proteins. In the alkaline midgut the crystals dissolve and are activated by gut enzymes, then bind to receptors on the gut lining and form pores that rupture the midgut wall. Affected larvae stop feeding within hours and die within 1–3 days. It is classified under IRAC Group 11 (microbial disruptors of insect midgut membranes).

Pre-mix the required quantity of BIOKIL WP in a small volume of clean water to form a smooth slurry. Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water, add the slurry and mix thoroughly, then top up with the remaining water while agitating continuously. Apply using a knapsack or motorised sprayer that produces a fine mist, ensuring thorough, full-cover coverage of all foliage. Maintain agitation throughout spraying.

Scout regularly and apply as soon as Lepidoptera eggs or young larvae are detected
Apply in the evening or under cool, overcast conditions for best results (the bacterium is sensitive to sunlight/UV)
Target young (early-instar) larvae; efficacy declines on large larvae
Ensure complete wetting of foliage, including leaf undersides
Apply 1–3 times during the growing period, particularly at flowering and fruiting
Repeat applications at 10–14 day intervals as needed
Avoid spraying when bees are actively foraging
