- PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
- Biological Defence Against Soil-Borne Fungal Diseases — and a Root Biofertilizer
- TRICHOGUARD WP is a biological product formulated as a wettable powder (WP) containing the beneficial fungus Trichoderma harzianum at 2 × 10¹⁰ CFU/g. It controls soil pathogenic fungi while acting as a biofertilizer that enhances root development and crop vigour.
- Because it is a live, naturally occurring soil organism, TRICHOGUARD WP is well suited to integrated crop management, has a zero pre-harvest interval, and is practically non-toxic to bees, birds and other beneficial organisms.
- ACTIVE INGREDIENT
- Trichoderma harzianum – 2 × 10¹⁰ CFU/g
- MODE OF ACTION
- Trichoderma harzianum is a beneficial fungus that occurs naturally in soils and root ecosystems. When applied to seed, transplants, soil or growing media, it colonises the developing root zone and protects it against soil-borne pathogenic fungi through several mechanisms: competition for space and nutrients, mycoparasitism (it attacks and feeds on harmful fungi), and establishment of a protective root environment. As it grows, its hyphae improve soil structure, release and solubilise locked-up nutrients from organic matter, and help retain soil moisture and fertility — giving a growth-promoting (biofertilizer) effect alongside disease suppression.
- Key Properties:
- Live beneficial fungus that colonises and protects the root zone
- Dual action — suppresses soil pathogenic fungi and promotes plant growth
- Works by competition, mycoparasitism and root colonisation
- Soil/root-applied (drip, drench, dip, broadcast); not a foliar product
- USES, APPLICATION METHODS & RATES
| USE | Application rate | Timing and Frequency of application |
| Drip application
Ornamentals |
Mix 1Kg of TRICHOGUARD WP/Ha. Apply the suspension through the fertigation drip system
using adequate water volume. Agitate for the entire application period for uniformity of application. |
Apply weekly, repeat 3-4 times.
The soil or growing medium should be moist but not wet at the time of application. |
| Drench application
Vegetables |
Prepare a solution with 1Kg/ha of TRICHOGUARD WP in adequate water volume for the target area. Pour into a watering can or sprayer and treat evenly. Irrigate after application. | |
| Dip application.
Cuttings/ transplants |
Use as a pre-transplant. Prepare a mixture with 200g of TRICHOGUARD WP in 20L of water. Place rooted transplants/cuttings in a perforated crate and dip-to
soak the roots into a solution of the product. Plant immediately after dipping. |
Apply once during
transplanting. |
| Broadcast | Pre-irrigate the turf immediately before application.
Broadcast 200g of TRICHOGUARD WP as a coarse spray in 5 – 10 litres of water per 1,000 square feet. Irrigate the treated area via overhead sprinklers immediately after application. |
Repeat once in every 3
months |
- PHI & RE-ENTRY INTERVAL
- Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): 0 days
- Re-Entry Interval (REI): 4 hours
- METHOD OF APPLICATION
- Apply only to soil or growing media that is moist but not wet. Prepare the suspension in clean water at the rate for the chosen method, keep it agitated, and apply evenly via drip/fertigation, drench, root-dip or broadcast as appropriate. Irrigate lightly after application (other than root-dips) to settle the organism into the root zone. Where possible, allow treated soil or media to incubate for one day before planting for best establishment.
- APPLICATION GUIDE
- Apply to moist soil only — not to very dry, compacted, frozen or water-logged soils
- Do not over-irrigate or allow the soil to stay saturated for more than ~3 hours after application
- Where possible, let treated soil or media incubate for 1 day before planting
- Do not apply chemical fungicides, harsh chemicals or fumigants at the same time — these will kill the live organism
- Compatible with fertilizers, organic fertilizers and biostimulants
- Maintain continuous agitation when applying through drip/fertigation systems
- KEY FEATURES
- Dual Action — A biofungicide and biofertilizer in one: suppresses root pathogens while boosting plant growth.
- Zero Pre-Harvest Interval — Can be used at any crop stage, with no waiting period before harvest.
- Living Root Protection — Colonises the root zone to crowd out and parasitise harmful fungi.
- Soil & IPM Friendly — Practically non-toxic to bees, birds and beneficial organisms; supports long-term soil health.
